How to Talk to Your Teen/Adult About Substance Use

Event Details

Date: Thursday, July 16, 2026

Time: 6:00pm–7:00pm

Location: Council Tree Library, Large Meeting Room

Talking to your teen/trusted adult about substance use can be challenging and intimidating. The Changing Minds Campaign will share some tools that can make those conversations easier. When we change the narrative on substance use and substance use disorders, we reduce stigma, encourage access to treatment and support and build hope.

1 in 10 of our neighbors lives with substance use disorder, yet only a fraction of them will receive the care they need. Opening up educational, judgment-free dialogues about substance use is one of the best ways we can disrupt stigma and change lives.

Translation services available if requested before 7/9/2026. Please reach out to lfrank@poudrelibraries.org with any translation requests.

CSU Basketball Community Engagement Event – February 24, 2026

Changing Minds partnered with Colorado State University’s Men’s Basketball team and Graduate Assistant Joe Palmer, to raise awareness about substance use disorder and the stigma associated with this disease. When Joe played basketball at CSU, his nickname was “headband Joe” and so having Joe’s influence along with a headband giveaway was a perfect match.
